Notes - Items with this notation are from the personal collection of Tool Memorabilia and are not property of CU.ORG: There is a story that is not mine to tell about these unique DAT tapes as these were procured by the legendary collector known as Tool Memorabilia from his vast entanglements within the Tool community. The DAT tapes were transferred by Galen in 2012 and given back to the owner. If these tapes exist then you best believe more than these DAT tapes exist in the wild… That said, I’m not implying one can procure what Tool Memorabilia has been able to do over a long collecting career but if you never try, you will never know. Happy hunting.
Notes: This DAT tape, also very close to Production, is bit more nuanced than P DAT 46 as that is more or less straight-up album tracks. This tape is another story. The “LA Municipal Court” (the sped up version is literally just the stomping of the bass drum minus the speaking) and “Harry Manback Part II” were both released on 2000’s ‘Salival’ album. But here they are, years before they were released - recorded in 1995/1996. Eulogy at #6 says less guitar but to me it sounds exactly like #5 which in turn is what is on the album in the first place. Maybe I’ve hit too many concerts to tell the difference? The version of No Quarter appears to be the same version floating around as well although I honestly am not sure when that was recorded as I do believe Paul D’Amour played bass on that. Again, these mixes either are Production or so close to Production that there is no reason to provide a sample and, hey, last thing I want are any licensing issues.
