2007.06.09 - Atlantic City, NJ, USA @ Boardwalk Hotel
Source A: Mini Disc --- Shure MX185 > SP Batt Box > MD-MT877 (LP2)
Transfer: Microtrack 24/96 > USB 2.0 > Cool Edit Pro (downsample to 16/44.1) > CD Wave (track splits) > Flac (lvl 8) >
Location: Sec FL2, Row 13 Dead Center
Taper: ions
Notes - Taper: Slight drop out during Vicarious (around 6:06) due to the max file length on the Microtrack.
The show ran just a tad longer then expected. Big up to Kam for the sweet tickets.
Notes - Galen: This recording sounds probably a bit better than it should (with the source info used that is). This is clean with little audience yelling (this does occur a few times but not bad like many other recordings). The vocals are relatively up-front unlike other shows. There is a very crisp high-end that does give indication of the limitations of the Core Sound Cardioids microphones but I suppose it is noticeable only if you are looking for it (like I do). Otherwise, this is definitely a solid & enjoyable recording that should find a nice home in your collection. Just do the taper a favor & burn it to CD, take it with you & enjoy it outside of your smelly computer chair. Get up - get the f**k up & do something active while listening to Tool... lazy ass.

Transfer: DAT-M > Tascam DA-20 > Coaxial > Audiophile 2496 > Audacity > CD Wave > .wav > Flac Frontend (level 8) > .flac > Torrent
Location: Section 123, Row D
Taper: daskrabs
Notes - Taper: Taped from Section 123, Row D. Overall, a quality recording, IMHO. Complete show. Some crowd noise here and there. Great performance. Setlist comprised of pretty much the entire "10,000 Days" album, sans segues.
Notes - Galen: Ah yes the classic CSB>DAT rig. To those detractors that do not believe a simple CSB>DAT recording cannot deliver the goods, well, you need to take a listen to this enjoyable source. While it is true that at times the crowd can swell to come to the border of annoyance, the steady precision of this source gives evidence that this source is in the running for one of the better sources for this performance to be available. Nicely done. Unlike many other recordings from this era the vocals are actually not buried in the mix & it seems that the band is actually having a nice time on stage, if you can believe it. Definitely worth a listen. All that said, there seems to be an Interesting Engineering Miracle that had at time traveled with this recoridng like a friend.

Source C: Video --- Sony CCD-TRV940 w/Sound Professional mics
Taper: Rawson
Gen: 2nd from Master
Notes: So since when do video tapers put their names up on the screen like a producer in a movie? If you ask me, it’s about time. Filming is insane; coming from my perspective but man those that can do it & do it well (like Rawson) are few & far between. This video taper has been capturing Tool since 1997 & almost all of his work is wonderful, this is no exception. Clean, clear & captured with a calm, steady hand this is one of those videos that you could watch over & over. Well, if you wanted to see this rather bland performance over & over again. There is a layer of crowd noise of course since this was filmed from what appears to be center-right-seating on a bowl but it’s not any worse than many of the audience recordings floating around these days. All in all, definitely recommended as it is a pleasant capture from this lackluster-performance. Oh, why am I giving this performance such a hard time? Hard to say, maybe the fact that this is pretty much like XIV other shows has something to do with it?
