Notes: When your son or daughter looks up at you with big eyes & asks you: "Where in the world do good Tool recordings come from" you can laugh as you pick up Jr. & tell them the facts of recording-life. You need to start off by explaining that when someone really loves a certain band that they will go to extreme lengths to discretely document their live performances. First you need to pick out some solid equipment that is capable of capturing the sound from the speakers tenderly without actually modifying it, convince your better-half that (in some circles) it makes complete sense to drive hours, hours, hours, hours & spend a bunch of $ on things like tickets, gas, food, lachrymological texts, time transferring, EQ'ing & of course take the risk of being ejected - all to be able to hear the concert you were at. Ah, the joys of life. Your lil' one may ask you why someone else's daddy does not tape shows (or Tool) and that someone else's daddy said that you were a dork, well, all you have to do is put on your crisp, clean, solid & kick-ass recording (wait, exactly like this one) & explain to your young offspring that "some people get it, some people do not". Serious Tool tapers are not born but are chosen, marked by the Number Of The Beast on the left bicep (i.e.: a tattoo of Hello Kitty).
Maynardism:
"Thank you very much....we've played these songs a million times, but it still takes us to a dark place...it takes a lot out of you...it takes a lot of time, a lot of energy, and it makes it a lot easier when you're not taking pictures with those silly cameras (?)...this it the easiest it's been so far, you've all been great and made it really easy for us, thank you very much....thank you, we'll be back very soon."
