Notes:
Although the crowd may seem a little louder than average, this is one very nice crisp-and-clean recording. Am very surprised that this was taped with Sony ECM mics. Sound has not even a hint of brick-wall nor an inconsistency in sound. Very well balanced & crisp. This was not a front of stack recording and very well may have been taped from the 'sweet spot' (in front of the board). am not sure of this but am taking a guess. For someone that may enjoy a very live recording, this is it. If anything, the recording is ever so slightly distant sounding than some. This source seems to be the only version floating around in the trading pool as well. All in all, a very nice capture of what it is to be at a Tool show in 2001. So...take it or leave it.
Notes:
This has, for a very long time, been floating around as DPA>M1. That source info is incorrect. Unfortunately.
Notes - Added by Ricky 09/12/04:
I've listened to this show in its entirety about 3 times now and it seems like the crowd was incredibly disrespectful.  Towards the latter moments of Parabola you hear Maynard toss the microphone and again during the following song, Pushit (alt). I suspect the crowd was showering the band with shoes.  How do I know this?  Well, first, you don't pick up on any inconsistencies in Maynard's voice, only sheer frustration.  And before Lateralus he says "Well there you have it, thanks for all the shoes."

Notes:
This recording is actually pretty good, especially for the equipment used. Clean, clear & pretty crisp it is a fine recording actually. You can hear the compression when the bass hits but this may be a pattern of the microphones as well. However, this is an incomplete recording due to some reason that I do not know. It could be fair to say that the rationale would be from either equipment issue or taper f-up. For what this is, it is pretty good. Strangely, there is a version of Sober that almost seems like it was quasi-edited in to blend in with the performance on this recording BUT Sober was not performed on this night. The overall sound is the same it is most likely the same taper's work, on Sober. I'm sure it would not be that hard to figure out which actual performance of Sober this is, by matching or comparing Sober performances with this taper's recordings. But I do not want to do that myself. Anyway. Am not sure how many people would really jump to attain this as there is at least one real good recording of this performance floating around. Se la vie.
