2001.09.21 - Mansfield, MA, USA @ Tweeter Center
Source A: DAT --- Sony ECM-909 > Sony PCM-M1
Notes: Real nice recording. Instruments are balanced, vocals are clear and the input level is nice on the DAT. The only issue I have is that the crowd can be rather loud thus giving it a rather live feel rather than the front of stack type of recording. This sounds like an outdoor venue-recording even though this was (most likely) an indoor venue... oh, just checked Ticketmaster & this is an outdoor venue. It's odd, sometimes you can tell by the way the audio is captured if it is an indoor or outdoor venue. I don't know, there have been some killer outdoor recordings and some terrible outdoor recordings, depends on numerous factors like it does for an indoor show. Anyway. It sounds to me like this was taped from the amphitheatre seating, not lawn, maybe midway towards the stage. Good sound, quasi-rare source and definitely worth the time to invest in attaining this performance & source.

Source A: Hi8 --- Sony CCD-TRV940 Hi8 w/Sound Professional mics
Source/CD: 2nd Gen VHS --> Goldwave --> .WAV --> NERO --> CD ((Transferred to CD by Galen in 2001))
Taper: Rawson
Notes: Although the audio is sourced from a VHS (obviously), there is barely any tape hiss or fuzz at all, surprisingly enough Sound is quite good as it is very balanced but simultaneously seems to be a little brickwalled (bass) if you listen very hard - this is only very, very slight and is more like a light bass-fuzz, if that makes any sense. There are one or two times the audio seems to flake out (weird tape issues) but they are very minimal. Video is very clear as well, moves/shakes a little but is to be expected. All in all, a nice performance & a good capture of Tool - live. The aforementioned DVD is crystal clear as far as quality but there is a bit more 'dark' elements in the recording. However, there are some excellent screen-shots.
