Gen:
1st from Master

Notes:
Duncan traveled from England to the States to attend Tool's 4-date mini-tour. His recording's of the March mini-tour have, as of Sept. 2002, been put onto CD yet again by the master taper. CatalystX remastered this recording as well & it is commonly available.

Notes: This gig seems a little bit louder than the other 3 mini-tour shows & is probably my personal favorite as well. Good sound especially considering that this is sourced from not a DAT, not a Mini Disc, but a cassette. Blistering performance of 3rd Eye...also, this may be the best performance by Tool during the mini-tour but, again, I wasn't there. But I do have an opinion... it is very hard to beat the performances of these mini tour recordings... they are classic. And very good for the equipment used! What a setlist... The times below represent two common rips out there, provided as a reference, the 2nd time to represent the 2002 CatalystX remaster. What a setlist!

Notes - Transfer:
There actually seem to be lots of 'sources' of this show that are labeled as CSB>D8 that are in actuality simply CatalystX remaster's of Duncan's cassette masters. In early 2004, I did my own transfer of this show from a 2nd Gen clone so please note that the actual time/track list per CD may be different to your actual CSB>D8 source on CD (if you have it). Apparently, with the DAT trade circles, this show gets around a bit. Funny how it is actually or has been hard to find on CD.
Notes - Recording:
Absolutely stellar and beautiful recording. This, without a doubt, one of the best 1998 Tool recordings out there. Brilliant setlist, excellent performance, two cover songs, extended songs and this -is- the performance of Third Eye from 1998. Yes, I am positive on that - for sure. You know what that means, yeah? Somewhere, someone has this concert and the other mini-tour shows in stunning SBD quality. Demon Cleaner, Tool's version, makes you sort of rock back & forth & say "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah - I am the Demon Cleaner... Satan is the way". Out of any show from 1998, dare I say it, this is my favorite setlist - maybe AUD recording. That is saying a lot I think, there are some pretty good recordings out there. The taper seemed to have a -very- good idea of how to tape & there are only a couple detectable moments of movement which most people most likely would simply not notice as it is a very picky comment. As it is, stunning recording - best of the mini-tour & is one that definitely deserves a permanent spot in your 10 disc CD-player.
