Notes: The sound is a little brick-walled but is not terrible. Video is clear. I would say that this recording is probably best left for die-hard collector's, as for the sound quality. The video is surprisingly crisp & rather clean. In fact, UI would recommend this recording as a whole. No Quarter is performed with such strength that you would have to be deaf to not enjoy it. I can listen to it w/o annoyance but is that saying anything? There is a little bit of tape hiss but it is noticeable if you look for it. Maynard wears a weird wig (a blond, short afro) & is dressed in drag. Why does Maynard do that shit? Really? as for the setlist, it is absolutely amazing, in my opinion. Look at that... No Quarter, HWAP, Opiate/extended, Crawl Away & Stinkfist. There is a rumor that a soundboard recording of this is out there. This has yet to be substantiated.
Note 2 (Has little to do with this recording): It seems as though Maynard, in his counseling days as a 'client', was heavily influenced by Carl Gustav Jung, a disciple of Sigmund Freud. However, I do not really need to explore the works of Jung again because I have a degree in Psychology & still am learning about the principles of analytic psychology. Don't need to read anymore about Anima & Animus, shadows, collective unconscious, ancestral archetypes but still do -- anyway. These are concepts Maynard incorporates into the lyrics of many Tool songs. They are merely concepts of a madman...madder than some that is. Jung spent two years living in solitude, in the middle of the woods, to write some of his most famous works & was reported to have spoken with angels during this time period. An angel on one shoulder & a devil on the other...sound familiar?
Maynardism:
"This may sound like a goofy question but it is a serious one. How many of you got children? Or say, like a really young brother or sister? It changes you doesn't it? Eyes open wide. This song goes out to my son who just turned two yesterday & his mother. This song is called H."
