Source: Unknown Gen VHS > VCD transfer

Notes: Filmed with permission, direct side-stage right. Taper stands directly next to Paul. There are two versions of this VHS, rare & common. Rare is the complete VHS show with very clear picture & sound. The more common version is incomplete & has a -jumpy- picture & the sound is kind of warbly. Between the more common version of this show floating around in the trading pool, there is virtually no difference from the version than the VHS --> VCD transfer. Both are comparable in clarity & issues. In other words, video & audio are the same. The sound on this recording peaks up then down sporadically. Sort of jumps up & down. Must be problems with the recording, a generation or two before this copy was mastered to VCD. For an early '92 gig, the sound is pretty damn good. The video/recording was show w/permission (obviously) as the taper stands right next to the stage, by Paul. The band knows a guy is taping & they just didn't care., free publicity. Video quality is a little snowy but not too bad. Tracking issues. Very cool to see some -classic- early '90's headbangers moshing though. There is also some very weird tape warbling. Now, here's the thing, the more common audio rips (w/jumpy sound & all) is best left for collector's. The more recently discovered, version does not have jumping sound & is a bit clearer. That too would be best left for collector's even though it is clearer, more focused & from a very low generation.

Notes: The performance is just so raw & intense, this is what Tool was like in 1992. Huh. They still have it, even now only now the energy is more focused, harnessed & evolved. MJK simply screams at these people who are 2-3 feet away. What's more, there are a pair of green eyes painted on the other side of the wall which seem to stare at the camera as the band jams under its watchful gaze.

Notes: In 2004, a new audio has been ripped to CD which is of much better quality than the sporadic, jumpy sound of the source I transferred to CD a while back. The 'new' rip has Jerk-Off on it and is quite rare.
