Notes: Was curious how long this legit Assisted Listening Device would make it’s way out from the doldrums and into semi-obscurity. Lots of highs and mids, very little to no low end. A lot like a scanner. Nice to see thus source be appreciated. ALD’s are rare in the wild, a lot of different things have to line up in order to make it happen so when one exists it is, at minimal, a cool thing. Such as this ALD; what a fine capture. Very impressive.

Source B: DAT - Core Sound Cardioid > Sony PCM-M1
Taper: ADAT8

Notes: This recording is a bit distant from the stacks but is saved that the taper correctly used Cardioid microphones for whatever his/her position was. Although this is an indoor venue, this recording almost gives off the impression that this performance was within an outdoor amphitheater. Some movement but a real pleasant listen overall. Nice job.

Position: Taped from Row 5, center

Notes: Vocals are muddy, distant, a good deal of movement (at times, not pervasive) and the taper seemed to be a good deal of distance away. Cymbals are swishy but yet bass and AJ’s guitar are concise thus a decent choice by the tpaer for knowing his/her position at said performance. Fine recording sans the lower vocals in the mix.

Source D: Unknown Schoeps MK4 > Unknown unknown

Notes: 9% sure these are the specific Schoeps used, I believe they were loaned by local Portland taper Robert D. The taper was a well known gear borrower; many of his masters were my SP-CMC4 Hypers>SPSB-6 Batt Box which he damaged and then eventally stole another Audio Technica mic from me. This, the ALD source and the SP-CMC4 are all sourced from the same taper who was a friend of mine years ago before he dropped off the face of the Earth thanks to Oxycontin.
