Notes:
Wonderful source. Vocals are up-front, guitar is clean, bass is steady & for fans of Danny's drumming... check out the performance of Rosetta Stoned. I understand that there are quite a few different sources for this Hippy-Fest Performance called Bonnaroo floating around. There is a possibility that this performance could very well be the most recorded performance of Tool, ever, due to the fact that the concert experience itself allowed taping (Tool, of course, did not allow taping of there performance but people did it anyway) although few have actually materialized. Yet. Recording : Could very well be one of the better sources for this performance. Of interest, this is, to date as of 08/2007, the only performance in which the legendary, one & only folk-artist-with-political-message (the incredible) Night Watchmen performed on Lateralus... err... I mean Tom Morello; the Night Watchmen is his other persona. The solo is, IMO, so-so as it really had the chance to go into random directions but instead was pretty much a text book version. Ah well. Now, although this recording is the last time Tool performed Ænema for this leg of the US Tour, I am not sure it would have been worth it to be out in the sun for days on end with a dred-headed chick named Summer having a seizure from bad LSD & lack of water in front of you as you try to tape the performance.

Notes - Galen:
This source will most likely take the cake for being the poorest recording of this performance available. Collectors only. It's kind of incredible, really, as I am pretty sure that this source is from the 2" x 1" Radioshack cassette recorders from the 1980's. I used that once or twice for a couple concerts many moons ago & attained results that were not this good but in the same ballpark. Now, I say good as that this is tolerable but it is going to be best left for collector's only. If this were the only source available that would be one thing but, alas, this is but one of a few. As for the overall quality, uh, take a listen to the MP3 sample & you can be the judge.

Notes:
This is not the best sounding source for this show but it is a very good capture. MJK's vocals are up in the mix but at times it sounds like this was recorded from some distance away. A bit of crowd chatter and screams can sometimes seem to be an over-powering experience. Not really sure what else to say about this particular recording as, really, MK4 recordings are generally simply exceptional - and this source delivers nicely. At times though it seems, to me, that the audio is extra crispy and almost swishy; something I am not a massive fan of. The performance... again... does it not strike anyone rather strange that Tool performed at a jam-band, hippy-infested gathering? Suppose the organizers knew the color of money. It is also strange that Tool, being extremely anti-taping, performed at Bonnaroo - a concert that allowed people to audio record. Apparently Tool had people go in the crowd asking tapers to take down their stands/trees & to not tape. Yeah, that works. WTF.

Thanks to Jeff, Dan, Dan, Callie, Jess, and others for the help blocking.
Notes - Galen: This source is currently my favorite for this performance even with the droning of the crowd which, at times, is extremely annoying. There is not really any in-between either the crowd is screaming like a tween at a Hannah Montana show or it is non-existent. The audio is a bit thicker, per se, than the other MK4 sources out there with a bit more lower level frequencies as well. Sometimes MK4's can have too little & although they sound very bright the result leaves a tinny sensation to the listener. Not this one as although the vocals are sometimes obstructed the thicker result is like eating a turkey sandwich in the summer. Taking a guess, this date will most likely yield the most MK4 sources for a Tool show from this era if not ever.
