Source A: Mini Disc --- Sony ECM-MS908C > Sony MZR-700

Notes:
Really, this particular recording is very clear especially considering the equipment (mics) used. For some reason, I really dislike the Sony ECM sound but, somehow, this taper pulled it off & it is a pretty nice product overall. However, there is a very tiny amount of high end distortion on this recording that seems to, in a way, come & go. You need to really search for it when you listen to the show. It is semi-noticeable during one part of a song or crowd cheer then is gone in other parts. All in all, I think that most people would rate this recording at something like a "B" or "B+". There is a little more crowd noise <yelling + singing> in this recording than in the taper's 10.25.02 recording but I don't think he had any control over that. Personally, even if this show sounded like shit, which it does not, I would still listen to if but that is me. Tool was very tight this night, more importantly. As of March 2003, I have listened to this show in its entirety only twice but I have detected no performance issues nor flaws. Nor anything that really separates it from another show with the exception that they were very good this night. It was a Saturday night &, as I was told, this show was sold-out.

Source B: Mini Disc --- Radioshack Lavalier Omni-Directional Tie-Clip > Sony MZ-N1

Notes:
I say the following having used Radioshack Omni’s back in the 1990’s until 2001: This recording is best left for collectors. The bass is distorted, the vocals are muddy & it is a challenge to listen to. In fact, I wonder how many people can? There are worse recordings from this era of touring available but this is in the top 5, if that makes sense to you. I used this type of microphone for a short time a long time ago & although the recordings you get will not be great, you can improve the sound by using a volume control to limit the amount of sound going into your device. This taper simply plugged the mics into the mic-in slot thus the massive, massive distortion when the bass hits. That, and the microphones are shit. As it is, there are a few brief moments of clarity but even those are fleeting. Ah well. Something better than nothing? In the eye of the beholder. Also, this has most likely only been sourced from SHN>CD>SHN>CD or something like that. All discs are 1 track for each disc. Enjoy, Intermission is the clearest part of the recording.

Notes:
I really, honestly, normally do not enjoy a video that is edited/spliced in together with more than one angle. However, this particular recording seriously makes me question my prejudice towards multi-angled recordings. Seriously. Some of the most professional editing & whatnot of different angles, screens, band-members & the like are superbly spliced together. Currently, this is my favorite DVD of the 2002 tour. It is usually very, very hard to make out MJK during darker songs but somehow these 3 tapers, merged into one product, get supreme shots. There are times when you can almost see his eyes as he screams. That is how absolutely clear this is. Fans of Adam Jones, Dan & Justin will freak out as they have just as much close-up time as MJK & the screens. Now, this was shot from the left side of the venue & also the right side of the venue. Merged into one DVD, you get a superb & wonderful show to watch & enjoy. Serious enjoyment. Add a very cool pop-up menu screen & you have a virtual professional DVD. Oh...one more thing...Lateralus has never, ever looked better. Seriously. The audio used is sourced from the Sound Professional external mics, not the MD source.

Notes:
This is the right angle (only) of the matrix source. The matrix source is the common version available. Thank you, Charles. There is nothing really different or all-together unique about this except that the taper did a very nice job keeping focus & getting the proper angles and all that. There are some security ducks & some other various issues every once in a while. In the matrix DVD, not the one with K. Reeves, those inconsistencies are covered up by the other source. Some excellent and prolonged screen shots as well. Good performance by Tool but a little predictable. This is the exact same setlist as was performed the previous night. Even the Leary speech is in the same place. However, this is an incomplete recording. For better or for worse.
