2002.11.03 - Roanoke, VA, USA @ Civic Center
Source: DAT --- Core Sound Cardioids > Sony PCM-M1
DAT: Master DAT > Digital Clone-1
CD: Master > CD
Taper: Travis
Gen: 1st from Master
Notes: Crystal clear recording. Snare, cymbals-clashing, bass hitting just-so, good guitar mix & MJK's vocals at the right volume equal a nice product. Nice job for the taper & Nobby, the sound guy. Captures Tool on a pretty good night as well. They seem to be in a pretty intensly-rocking mood as the performance is one of the better from this leg that I've yet heard. The audio runs a bit 'hot' (not distortion but loud) until about 3/4 of the way through the Grudge when the taper turned the gain down a little. One of the better '02 recordings (if you like the sound of Cardioids) out there. Also, one of the better live versions of 'Opiate' I've heard. The performance seemed to be a little less like a job and more enjoyable for Tool this night. But, what the hell do I know? I wasn't there & I am not in Tool. But after listening to X amount of shows, perhaps anyone would gain at least a little bit of understanding perhaps?
Maynardism: "Roanoke. You don't sound too sure. Well, anyway, nice to meet you. This is another song."
