2002.10.11 - Boulder, CO, USA @ Coors Event Center
Source A: DAT --- MBHO ka200n> MBHO Actives > JK Labs DVC V-12 > Sony PCM-M1
Taper: Billy
Gen: 1st from Master
Notes: Superb recording; very low crowd noise & crystal clear voice, guitar, drums & bass. You get what you pay for & if you know how to tape like a professional, you get an output of quality like herein this recording. Can't say enough good things about it, to be honest... so, I'll stop. As for Tool's performance, very tight & to the point. Not going to say a very inspired performance but definitely a tight one. Opiate has the Dr. Leary 'Authority speech' in it & MJK has a different(?) vocal effect to boot. If anything, this is a very standard 2002 setlist but this does hint towards a change... the re-addition of EBA/TP gives evidence. It is good they changed it up a few shows later...

Taper: DP
Gen: 1st from Master
Notes: Overall, the recording clarity isn't all that bad, although, the recorder has some skips from people pushing into the microphone slot; taking a guess that is. Especially during Sober and the 'earlier' songs, crowd members seemed to be really vocal. Sometimes this is good, often it is not. The dude next to the taper singing Sober should be de-tongued. It is kind of funny though, in a weird way. This is fine work but has some issues. As it is, at least, an interesting listen. The sound is good to about The Patient, then the taper moves positions and, IMO, the sound quality goes down a bit. On the plus side, there are no bass overloads or anything like that. All in all, maybe best left for collectors. Seeing as how it is also incomplete may give evidence to the 'collectors' designation

Source C: Core Sound Binaural > Sony MZ-R700
Notes: For the equipment used, this is a really solid source. Sure, some crowd noise and one could argue some distance between taper and the speakers but, whew, really nice recording! If I were to take a guess about where the tapers’ location was -which I am- I would say somewhere on the floor-center.
