2001.08.07 - Seattle, WA, USA @ The Paramount
Source A: DAT --- Sound Professionals Premium Slimline Cardioids > Sony TCD-D8
Notes: One of the better sounding recordings from this era of touring. Very nice. Interesting that Undertow made an appearance. Although nothing extremely unique about the recording as far as monumental upgrade of quality, per se, nor the performance being some off-the-wall setlist, the product is of high quality on both spectrums. The crowd seemed to be very, very enthusiastic & for the amount of noise that people made cheering this recording sounds as good as it does. All in all, a recording that everyone will truly enjoy listening to - I assume. Being one of the ultra-art-prog-collaborations with KC, there seemed to be an interesting vibe to this show. Funny in a way that KC is listed as one of Tool's idols but yet they opened for Tool during this 10 date tour.

Notes: Good sounding recording, considering that the taper recorded the performance with headphones > MD mic-in. Interesting. The taper was towards the back, on the floor - for location. All in all, this is a pleasure to listen to although there is a bit of crowd chatter/noise that is persistent at best. The band's performance is -on- & this is recording is decent reflection of that fact. Laterlaus has an interesting hand clapping by the audience that is not only surprisingly on-beat but also adds to the ambience of the evening. Part of Schism from this show is mixed into the tapers 08.06.01 show as there was a reported disc-change or something, the taper told me once but cannot remember exactly what he said was the reason.

Notes: Excellent recording, definitely the best source for this show... unless you have access to the SBD recordings that Tool has from each show. Doubtful. This recording is clean, clear, concise & absolutely brilliant as the vocals, guitar, bass and drums all blend together to create a superb reproduction of this particular show. I do not think that there would honestly be much more to say re: the quality of this recording. Nice job, Aaron. One thing about this performance though is that Undertow gets pretty much destroyed by the band. MJK misses the first part & the rest of the guys play an extra measure(?) at the beginning - funny. As it is, this recording is definitely one that should make it's way into your collection sooner than later. There are different DAT>CD rips of this show out there so disc times may vary.
