Notes:
The source info, the story. The master reportedly sold his MD's to Omar for whatever fee. It is debatable if the taper simply copied MD's onto other MD's, copied CD or WAV to MD's or really sent his masters. Only one person really knows & he reports that he sent his masters. I do not know why anyone would get rid of their master recordings. But that is me. As such, there are at least 2 different rips of this show with different track times floating around.
Notes: Very nice audience recording. The sound is as good as one would expect & is a rather standard CSB>MD recording: rather solid & nice. The taper sounds as though he was in the stands or maybe towards the back of the floor but there is little crowd noise if he were in such a position. Tool is as good as they consistently were during this leg of the tour although Maynard was having a little bit of trouble with his voice for a little bit. Nothing really outstanding nor unique about this, really, other than that (if nothing else) this is a rather solid listen. I know that Tool was trying to give all the fans the "same experience" with their shows but, really, wouldn't it be nice for just a little bit more variety?

Source B: DAT --- Core Sound Binaurals > Sony TCD-D8

Notes:
Although this is a good capture of Tool, I think that some may feel the MD version to actually be a bit better sounding. Sounds counterintuitive, I know, but that may be the case. This version has more depth in sound though. It is also pretty bass-e, which may or may not be a bad thing. Taped from at least behind the sweet spot, this is not an "in your face" type of recording. There are times when the crowd is audible but then only minimally is that noticeable. A little bit of echo reverberates at times, caused by the various objects the sound bounces off before it lands into the microphones & unit. Perhaps using the CSB bass filter during this recording condition would have yielded better results? As it is, this is definitely a solid recording in and of it's own right which should find a home in your collection at some point. Recommended.
