Notes:
This source is, without a doubt, the best capture of this performance known to exist. Source B, although the exact same mic + DAT, is good but compared with this capture it is definitely sub-par. Compare the two samples, you tell me which sounds more authentic. This is simply clean. I've said this once, I'll say it again; this taper knew how to tape & I think that even if he tried he could not pull anything but a 'great' recording. This is definitely one of those recordings. The Oade Mod on his D8 was definitely a secret weapon, so to speak, in regards to pulling superb audience recordings. And, really, just looking objectively at the equipment used you may think that sure the recording sounds good but it's not going to sound that good, however, this recording sounds absolutely + surprisingly superb. The time reflected is the total time of the DAT recording including pre + post show shenanigans.

Notes:
This is not the same recording source as CSB>D8 (Oade Mod II)
Notes:
For a few years, this DAT source simply did not float around in the trading pool. Not sure why. Regardless, this may not be a fantastic capture of a amazing & completely unique performance of Tool; it is an excellent + accurate capture of Tool on one of their relatively stable 2001-era shows. I do not think that the taper was front of stack for recording nor was he in the sweet spot. The crash of the cymbals lead me to infer that the taper was looking towards his/her left as was seating (possibly). However, there is a little bit of movement during the Grudge & the taper appears to get a slightly better position for taping for more of a full-fledged & balanced recording. (Note: I am being excessively picky here - this is a tight recording). Although I simply have not heard all of the sources for this performance, this recording would be a very, very hard thing to attempt to beat as far as sound quality & overall enjoyment. So, go do that...

Notes:
Picture is just a tiny bit fuzzy but the sound is very good. Surprisingly good. Also, there are just a couple slight digital transference problems such as a bar going down the screen & a drop in sound. Other than that, definitely one of the better VCD's I've come across. The performance itself is as polished & professional as one would expect from 2001 - excellent & polished. For some reason, this show has really not circulated on anything but VCD & VHS -- no only audio. Hmm... All in all, a good find. The filmer recently put this show straight from the Hi8mm to DVD & this is floating around. Soon it will be pretty much everywhere including in cereal boxes of "Wheaties" where if you send 4 proofs of purchase, the taper will send you a DVD from his master. Just kidding. The DVD is rather nice & is definitely worth the time or energy or lack thereof to acquire.
