Notes - by Taper:
I had some problems with the trs adapter or the line-in of the mt2496; one channel worked, this is a dual mono recording! :-(PLEASE PRESERVE QUALITY, DO NOT ENCODE TO MP3, KEEP OUR RIGHT TO TRADE FREELY ALIVE, DON'T BE A FUCK & SELL THIS SHOW, ENJOY AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE, SEED AS LONG AS YOU CAN
Notes:
There are several instances of significant phasing that permeate through this recording, most notably on Stinkfist. That said, this recording is surprisingly clean in sound. This is significant as this is a mono sourced recording due to channel difficulties with the recorder. The sound has a plethora of mid + high range however the bass is almost lacking throughout. The crispness of the overall sound will make some smile & some frown as the result comes down to a matter of taste + tolerance. To my ears, this is a bit too crisp but to others this is simply like "the shit". Performance wise, I saw some pictures of the gig, this is one of them where the 'gas mask' was utilized. Not that it had much effect. Were you looking for a scream during Stinkfist? No. Good as MJK simply goes "huh". Yeah, huh.

Notes: This is a very solid example that it is possible to get a really nice sounding recording using relatively basic equipment. It helps that the taper uses CSB microphones. Although there may be occasional instances where the sound is a little thin sounding that apparently has something to do with the position rather than a deeper analysis. Clean, clear & although technically not the greatest recording of Tool this is, for the equipment used, definitely a wonderful listen. The crowd is mostly rather quiet but there are a few occasions of ruffian-like behavior. All in all, a tasty listen of a performance that at this stage of the tour is quite solid.

Notes: Although this is not a bad recording, per se, the result of placement of taper, type of microphones (note: there are not a lot of great sounding Tool recordings with Sony ECM's in general, in my opinion) & general ambience does not leave, at least me, a realistic representation of the sound from the speakers. Other sources of this performance are quite good. This source has a super-crisp high end, semi-muted vocals & virtually no crowd noise - this is strange, being at a Tool show & all. If one did not know better, this recording could be considered almost demo-sounding or possibly something more mysterious. This is a truly interesting recording that is recommended for all ages. and skill levels.

Notes: Clear recording. Vocals are in-check and the bass, guitar and drums are decently represented. This is a rare circumstance where the vocals are above the rest of the instruments in the PA mix - a lot of the times MJK’s vocals are jumbled. But not here. That said, there is somewhat of a flat response in regards to depth of this recording which brings me to the late 1990’s ion regards to overall microphone clarity.
