Most of Jambi missing due to human/recorder issues and security. Ran into some issues early on, namely security. Turns out row 1 and 2 are the hockey players bench, so row 3 was front row. There were 3 security guys looking in our section alone for people with cameras and audio recording equipment. They were making several trips into the stands removing sim cards from cameras, etc. I also ended up with 2 guys behind me screaming like little girls. Most notably during the beginning of Right in Two and the quiet parts of Wings and Lateralus. Other then those moments, it doesn't ruin the recording. Seems to be my curse. Those issues aside, it was an amazing concert. Original source was very muddy, so I increased the high end and lowered the bass a bit during mastering. Hope you enjoy! Notes - Galen: Ah position, position, position & luck; 3 main ingredients (besides decent equipment) pertaining to live recordings. The bass is somewhat crunchy throughout and although that is not necessarily a bad thing it does leave the listener with a somewhat artificial flavor, per se. The vocals are decent in the mix but not as uplifting as in source B (at times). The people talking behind the taper, as mentioned in the notes above, are really not all that bad. Very annoying but thankfully it was not a pervasive issue throughout the show. I did detect a few random spots of microphone phasing (i.e.: moving around). All in all though this is a very pleasant audience recording of a polished if yet predictable performance.

Note:
Jambi is incomplete on this source.

Nothing to special to say... a good show indeed. it speaks for itself. a bit of talking with my friend burton but i cant NOT say anything the entire show...just feel like a dick, so deal with it!!.. ;
Notes - Galen: I really like the novelty and the quality of this source. For those that may not know, a real time matrix involves mixing one or more microphones together via a stereo adapter (mini plug) which in turn goes into your recording unit. The combination of the CSC mics & the AT's gives a deeper sound than either microphone would be able to deliver on its own. Although recorded from what sounds like a long ways away, the sound is all in all quite nice. Unfortunately this performance is remarkably just like pretty much all the other shows from this leg: standard, rehearsed but yet polished. The difference came about two weeks later when Tool arrived back in Hamilton with a slightly altered set.

Source C: Analog - Sony TCM-353V

Notes:
Oof. This is a rough recording. For those that may not recall or are aware, Sony TCM 335V is a handheld dictation cassette recorder used to, say, record a lecture or an interview. Not a loud rock concert. I used this same family of Sony handhelds in the late 1990’s with similar results although one could argue a source is better than no source. Included below is a picture of the rig. Do you see the red ‘record button’? That, right there, is the built-in microphone whereas the speaker over the cassette. Not a lot of recording power. Overall, distortion is persistent be it as the band performs or when the crowd screams. This is strictly for collectors only. I will say, I 110% appreciate that a taper intentionally brought in this and intentionally taped Tool - in 2007. That is extremely cool, in my opinion. 10/10 for the effort! Much respect.
