1997.02.28- Fitchburg, MA, USA @ Wallace Civic Center

Source: DAT --- Sanken COS-11 > Sony TCD-D8
Position: Front of Board, Dead Center

Notes: Good recording. Although not entirely rare, for some reason, not many people seem to have this recording. Tool was in top, top form this night. Maynard seems to be a little but more condescending this night to the audience as well; irritable perhaps. The recording itself has a bit of talking by people around taper which is minimized when the band is playing. Worth noting though. All in all, one of the better 1997 recordings that has surfaced. The taper was standing in possibly one of the best positions for taping: Front Of Stack. The thing is, there seems to be a point where the volume/intensity of the bass + high frequencies seemed to pass the threshold of the microphones, there is a little bit of high level distortion. Not bad though but, again, worth noting. The microphones used give a slightly more intense representation of the concert, different sound. Personally, I enjoy it quite a bit. Have heard other people complain that they are not interested in the sound of this recording though. All comes down to tastes I think.
