2006.05.06 - Phoenix, AZ, USA @ Gammage Auditorium
Source A: DAT --- Sanken COS-11s "red marks" > Sony PCM-M1 (Oade Mod II) / 48 kHz
Taper: Desertrat
Gen: 1 from Master
Notes: Although this was recorded from a self-disclosed less than perfect position; the result is a steady, solid, lively, ambient & thoroughly enjoyable recording that will be on your list of "must hear again" list of Tool recordings/performances from this era. Not only is this the first live performance of Lipan Conjuring but also features the band finally shaking off some of the rust of the near 3 years prior to deliver a powerful, cohesive & fluent piece of art to the attendees of this very small theatre. Intentionally not straying from the setlist of the previous performances, there is a part in Rosetta Stoned that Adam either messed up or paused for dramatic effect - wonder if we will ever know the answer? For those that are especially diligent in listening - what does MJK do during the first/intro bit to Ænima... is that a mistake/pause or what? As it is, this is a wonderful recording that will hopefully grace your ears soon as it is a welcome addition to the trade community. All in all, definitely worth your undivided attention.

Source B: Danish Pro Audio 4061 > Sony PCM-M1
Taper: Ed Davis
Notes: Another great recording by Ed Davis. This source sounds minimally as good as Source A, at least to my ears but I do enjoy the crisp and clean sound of a proper DPA 4061 recording.
