Notes:
The first night of the Fall US Tour. Loud, intense, precise & professional. Tool played to an almost sold-out crowd of fans who were not only excited to see the band but also happy to get such an intense band up there, I imagine. As a thought, it doesn't really seem very economical to travel to Anchorage but, it was worth it. Not only is this a very strong performance but is highlighted by a rather nice, crisp & professional sounding recording. Although there is a guy ((you know, "that guy" who is at almost every show where you are trying to tape)) that enjoys sharing his voice with others and makes it known every now & then, most noticeable is on Sober, he is usually over-powered by the music & volume. Even then, it is comic relief, at worst. The taper stood directly in front of the board &, as a result, captured (basically) what it is to be at a Tool show. Plain & simple.

Maynardism:
"Thank you very much Joe Paul. Joe Paul on drums. Joe Paul Slatey. Our resident psychic-foot masseuse. Thank you very much for sharing this moment with us. We would hope that something you've experienced tonight will leave you inspired, healed on some level or perhaps very, very horny. We would suggest we take these feelings home with you & in the coming months, coming years use these feelings to create something positive. In the meantime, travel home safely. Put in a copy of Caligula. Sit yourself beside a nice fire. Masturbate & write poetry. You know, things like that. Have a nice masturbate, thank you very much."
