2001.09.29 - Virginia Beach, VA, USA @ Virginia Beach Amphitheatre

Source: Unknown Recording Equipment

Notes:
This is, perhaps, the worst 2001 recording known to exist. Definitely for collector's only. Well, maybe not the worst, there are a few I've heard that were front of stack with Radioshack Lavaliers that are so absolutely terrible it's like listening to an entire episode of Rush Limbaugh on an AM station. But, those are in 2002. So, maybe this is the worst 2001 recording. The sound is distant, echoes, has a brickwall & seems to really only come out of the right channel as the left is obscured by something. Most of all, or worst of all, the speed is fast. So, either Tool was on a lot of cocaine this night or the analog recording or transfer was just too fast. Whew. It sounds like this was a good performance but it is a task to get through the entire show. There are a couple track transitions plus a thick layer of crowd noise + a thick layer of cassette noise. But, hey, at least this is better than nothing? A terrible recording is better than no recording at all, dykwim? I really do not know why anyone except for a die-hard collector or maybe someone who was at this show would listen to it. And even then, I'm not sure for how long anyway, Enjoy...
